A classic traverse over the 3 highest mountains in Ireland; Carrauntoohill, Beenkeragh and Caher. The Coomloughra Horseshoe takes in exposed ridges and varying underfoot conditions offer stunning views throughout the Southwest of Ireland.
This route encompasses knife-edged and exposed areas on the notorious Beenkeragh Ridge between that of Beenkeragh and Carrauntoohill mountains. There is a track in places; however scrambling is required due to severe erosion.
This track is a notably tough ascent and should only be attempted by experienced and capable hikers. It becomes far more dangerous in windy and icy conditions and it is advised not to attempt the climb.
