Every now and again it’s nice to get away from the beaten track and experience something a little different. The short walk at Pike Wood is rarely on the attractions list for Killarney unfortunately; however I am going to share this one with you!

The route is entirely forest trails with a river keeping you company on the right hand side making its way down to join the Flesk river. Not long on the path you will come to open forestry at the river’s edge, this walk is suitable for any weather conditions, however if you’re lucky enough to catch the sun dancing through hundreds of trees, then mission accomplished for the day. These trees hold stories and plenty of history of Ireland long ago.

Pike Wood is ideal for a short walk with the dogs or family walk. There are also picnic benches at the entrance. Parking is available at the entrance barrier, just off the main road.
