Ireland’s Highest Pub Top of Coom
Top of Coom is Ireland’s Official Highest Pub (OSI verified), at over 1045ft above sea level. The pub is owned and run by the Creedon family, the pub has been in the Creedon family for over five generations and was established around 1846. It is situated on the Kerry/Cork boarder just outside Kilgarvan and just off the Ring of Kerry. It sits overlooking two beautiful valleys Glanlee to the right and the Muscrai to the left.
The pub is long renowned and famed for its traditional music sessions and is a favourite among Ireland’s traditional musicians. Sean –Nos singing is a long held tradition in the area and can be heard when any singing session begins which is nearly every other night.
The pub really is in the heart of the community and is the focal point for a lot of community activities like card playing, darts, Irish lessons, meetings.. It is the definition of a local pub.
