White Tailed Eagle Watching

White Tailed Eagle Watching main image

During 2008 – 2009 the White Tailed Eagle project was well underway to reintroduce the White Tailed Eagle back into Killarney National Park. This magnificent bird of prey once called Killarney home before they became extinct. Now residing in Eagles Nest, locals and visitors cherish the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the White Tailed Eagle.

The Eagles have been spotted mostly throughout the skies of Lough Leane; take a boat tour to Innisfallen Island or to the Gap of Dunloe where your chances of seeing the Eagle are all the better!

As you reach the Upper Lake by boat or by foot to Lord Brandon’s, this is another popular viewing point to watch out for the Eagles.
