Sustainable Tourism: Our Commitment in Killarney

Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce is focused on developing and adopting a best practice approach to sustainability, in collaboration with our external stakeholders. As we balance growth with care for our natural and national treasures, we’re integrating our commitment to sustainability with our globally-recognised reputation for exceptional experiences.

As a  founding member of the Kerry Tourism Industry Federation (KTIF), we strive to promote tourism while ensuring its sustainability throughout County Kerry. Working in harmony with both public and private sectors, KTIF takes a unified approach to sustainable tourism. While these practices pose challenges, they are crucial for the conservation of our local environment and the prosperity of our businesses and community.

Through Fáilte Ireland’s capital projects and forging strategic partnerships, we’re able to launch innovative projects that enhance visitor experiences, create jobs, and safeguard our natural environment. Our current focus is the Killarney Destination and Experience Development Plan (KDEDP). This five-year plan aims to extend the tourist season and develop a sustainable tourism destination in Killarney.

We’re safeguarding our timeless natural beauty for generations to come, protecting the places that are home to our stories, our communities and our authentic Killarney experiences.

Together, we can make Killarney a world-class, awe-inspiring, and above all, sustainable destination.
